West Covina Man Identified as Pyramid Lake Boat Crash Victim
Divers planned to continue searching Monday for a potential second victim of a Pyramid Lake boat crash that took the life of a 52-year-old West Covina man.
Rick Tanovan died Sunday morning in Gorman, an unincorporated community 16 miles north of Castaic, according to the L.A. County coroner’s office.
Tanovan’s body and a boat were discovered beneath the water’s surface after a jet skier reported seeing “something suspicious” to a deputy, according to a statement from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
Deputies pulled Tanovan from the water and unsuccessfully attempted to revive him by administering CPR.
The man “appears to have drowned, but the cause of death has yet to be confirmed,” the statement said.
Authorities believed a second man may have been with Tanovan and divers searched Sunday.
An investigation into the incident was ongoing.
“There are no signs of damage to the boat … and no obvious signs of physical trauma” to the man who died, according to Deputy Juanita Navarro-Suarez. “Also, there is no preliminary sign of foul play.”
