A man was in custody after allegedly attacking a woman and attempting to sexually assault a her in a Hollywood parking structure early Sunday morning, according to Los Angeles Police Department Hollywood Division desk officer.
A passerby spotted the alleged attack and called police around 1:30 a.m. in the 1700 block of North Las Palmas Avenue (map).
The incident occurred in a parking structure that was open to the public near Hollywood Boulevard, in a highly-populated area known for bars and clubs.
The victim’s condition was unknown, but she was receiving medical treatment.
The alleged attacker fled the scene and a police helicopter, K-9’s and about 34 officers searched for about an hour and a half before locating him.
The man turned himself over without incident and was in custody, the LAPD officer said.
Investigators said the man would likely be booked.
Authorities were collecting evidence and interviewing witnesses in the parking structure until around 7:30 a.m.
