Make your children’s Saturdays full of fun and learning this summer at the Dominguez Rancho Adobe Museum, where they get hands-on experiences while learning. Saturday, they can learn about mosaics and create their own mosaic using tiny tiles.

Did you know the oldest known mosaics go back more than 4,000 years ago and were made of pebbles? Did you know in the ancient world, mosaics were used for floors and footpath? Did you know mosaics also kept walls protected from wind and water? This is what you can learn today!
The Dominguez Adobe is California Historical Landmark Number 152 and was placed on the National Register of Historic Places by the United States Department of the Interior in 1976. The Dominguez Rancho Adobe Museum hosts special events throughout the year and offers free tours of the Adobe to the public every Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday of the month, and the first Thursday and Friday of the month at 1, 2 and 3 p.m.

The mission of the Friends of Rancho San Pedro is to preserve and increase the awareness of early California history as it relates to the Dominguez family, homestead adobe and the Rancho San Pedro, the first Spanish land grant in California. This is accomplished through educational programs and the operation of the Dominguez Rancho Adobe Museum.

The Marcedes Lewis Foundation, the Long Beach Sailing Foundation and the Boys & Girls Club of Long Beach present the 4th Annual Marcedes Lewis Invitational Regatta.
The regatta is a benefit, which provides inner city youngsters educational opportunities. Catalina 37s are provided by the Long Beach Sailing Foundation to teach students how to sail on the high seas.
This FREE event is open to the public. The best location to view the regatta is at the end of the Belmont Veterans Memorial Pier, located at 15 39th Place in Long Beach.
Started by NFL football player, Marcedes Lewis, The Marcedes Lewis Foundation was established to award scholarships to yougsters who otherwise would not be able to participate in youth sports. The foundation will follow each recipient through his/her youth and high school years hoping to assist with any necessities that he/she might incur as they enter college. Scholarship recipients must maintain certain academic standards and report to the foundation periodically.

Temecula is the place for the 19th Annual Pechanga Pow Wow at Pechanga Resort & Casino. The FREE weekend-long event features thousands of Native American dancers, singers, drummers, and artisans from tribes throughout North America.

Visitors can also taste Native American-inspired foods such as buffalo burgers, Indian tacos served on traditional fry bread, and Native strawberry shortcake. Fireworks are scheduled Saturday evening.
