Whittier Barricade Situation Ends; No One in Custody

Sheriff’s deputies concluded their attempt to make contact with a person who was believed to be armed and barricaded in Whittier on Saturday, according to a Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department news release.

“The suspect was not located” at the scene, the release said.

The affected area in the 15600 block of Leffingwell Road (map) had been cleared of police activity as of 9:44 p.m. and returned to normal, authorities said.

A special weapons team with the department had responded to the situation, which began around 5:15 p.m.

No other information was immediately available.
