LAPD officers discovered the bodies in a 7-Eleven parking lot in the 8200 block of Sepulveda Boulevard (map) around 6 a.m., LAPD Srgt. Carlson said said. The address bordered Van Nuys.

Both men appeared to be in their 20s and were shot during a verbal altercation, Detective Juan Santa said.

A third person was taken to a hospital in stable condition, Officer Joel Morales said.

Police were searching for two gunmen and hoping store surveillance footage would indicate what the confrontation was about, LAPD Deputy Chief Jorge Villegas said

“We’re canvasing the actual area to identify if in fact the cameras were rolling, because some of these businesses do have cameras,” Villegas said.

LAPD asked that people avoid the nearby area, in a 6:45 a.m. tweet.

Northbound and southbound traffic near the scene was impacted.
