Two men were arrested on Friday after personnel from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department served a search warrant at a location in Norco and discovered over 400 marijuana plants, officials said.

Israel Martinez, 49, and Wilivalvado Arteaga Martinez, 34, residents of Ontario were booked for marijuana cultivation and conspiracy charges, both felonies, according to a press release.

Sheriff’s deputies and members of the department’s Special Investigation Bureau executed the warrant about 1:30 p.m. in the 3700 block of California Avenue in Norco (map), authorities said.

The warrant “was the result of an investigation into an illegal outdoor marijuana grow at the location,” the release said.

The suspects were taken into custody after the plants were seized.

The two men were being held at the Robert Presley Detention Center in lieu of $50,000 bail, according to online records. They are expected to appear in court at the Riverside Hall of Justice on Tuesday.
