A 42-year-old self-described “spiritual healer” who claimed he could solve romantic issues for women was sentenced Wednesday to nine years in state prison for rape.

Jose Romulo Felix pleaded no contest on July 1 to two felony counts of rape and sexual battery by fraud, according to a news release from the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.

The Victorville man advertised in Spanish newspapers that he was a “spiritual healer,” the release stated.

A woman who answered the ad met with Felix at his office in Downey in 2013 and was sexually assaulted by him, prosecutors said.

Felix was also ordered to register as a sex offender for life.
