Amber Alert Issued for 2 Children Taken From Grandmother’s Expo Park Home

An Amber Alert was issued Thursday for two missing children that were taken several days earlier from their grandmother’s Exposition Park home, allegedly by their biological mother.

The alert was issued just after noon Thursday for an 8-year-old boy and 9-year-old girl, according to California Highway Patrol Officer Jennifer Cassidy.

The Los Angeles Police Department on Thursday morning announced that the children’s mother, Ameenah Rasheedah Freeman, had been spotted alone on Wednesday evening.

She was “disoriented and still unmedicated” when she appeared at her mother’s home, but left when a 911 call was placed.

Ameenah Freeman again returned to the home at 5 a.m. Thursday “in a confused state and asked where the children were,” an LAPD new release stated. She left abruptly before officers arrived.

Both the mother and children remain missing, police said Thursday.

The children had been taken from the grandmother’s home in the 1700 block of West 35th Place about 3 p.m. Monday, according to LAPD. The grandmother reported them missing 10 a.m. Tuesday.

The mother and children had last been seen together in the Northridge area about 4:15 p.m. Tuesday. They were in a maroon 2011 Ford Edge with paper plates that stated “Airport Marina.”

LAPD provided this image of this vehicle, in which the mother and children were last seen on Aug. 5, 2014.

CHP would not be lighting up freeway signs with Amber Alert messages because the vehicle had only paper plates, Cassidy said.

The mother had been believed to be heading to Phoenix, where the biological father might have been living.

Emanuel Freeman was described as an 8-year-old black male with black hair and brown eyes, standing 4 feet 8 inches tall and weighing about 94 pounds.  He was last seen wearing a black T-shirt with a “Mario Brothers” picture, black shorts with white stripes and black sandals.

Adoniah Freeman was described as a 9-year-old black female with black hair and brown eyes, standing 4 feet 10 inches tall and weighing about 97 pounds. She was last seen wearing a pink dress with white flowers.

Both children suffer from asthma and require an inhaler on an as needed basis.

The mother was described as a 37-year-old black female with black hair and brown eyes, standing 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighing approximately 160 pounds.
