Man Wanted in Connection to 2012 Sexual Assault in Utah Is Arrested in Santa Barbara County

A man wanted since 2012 for allegedly sexually abusing a child was arrested in Santa Barbara County, officials said Saturday.

Jose Luis Coronado was arrested at his workplace in Lompoc Friday in connection to an assault that occurred in Utah, a Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office news release stated.

Investigators learned that 52-year-old Coronado was in the area after a responding to a routine call to the Mission Hills part of Lompoc in mid-July.

Officials were concerned that Coronado may have committed similar crimes in Santa Barbara County and asked that anyone with information call the department’s anonymous tip line at 805-681-4171, or contact their local law enforcement agency.

Coronado was being held at the Santa Barbara County Jail and was expected to be extradited to Utah.
