A 28-year-old campus assistant at a Hesperia middle school was arrested on suspicion of committing lewd acts on a child after detectives uncovered an alleged “intimate relationship” between the employee and a teen, the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department announced on Monday.
Detectives began an investigation last Thursday after allegations surfaced that an employee of the Hesperia Unified School District was intimately involved with a 15-year-old girl, a news release from the department stated.
Investigators arrested Adrian Toriz on Friday after determining that he had allegedly committed lewd acts with the victim for at least a year, starting when she was 14, authorities said.
The district told detectives that Toriz worked at Ranchero Middle School, the release stated. District officials sent out a statement notifying parents of the arrest.
Toriz was booked on suspicion of committing lewd acts on a child and oral copulation, according to the Sheriff’s Department. He was being held in lieu of $750,000 bail.
