AltCar Expo

Gayle Anderson was live in Santa Monica at the AltCar Expo, the nation’s leading forum for green car ride and drive, public education and demonstration of the latest green technology vehicles. The Alt Car Expo is happening Friday and Saturday, September 19-20, 2014, from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m., at the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium in Santa Monica, CA.  The AltCar Expo is free and open to  the public.

AltCar Expo presents the most extensive array of green vehicles in one place, including:  electric, hybrid electric, natural gas, propane and hydrogen vehicles.  Participating manufacturers include:  Honda, Chevrolet, Ford, GenZe, General Motors, Hyundai, Mercedes-Benz, Nissan, Smart, Toyota, Volkswagen & ZeroTruck, among others.  The event  features a number of North American vehicle debuts, lectures and demonstration opportunities.

Free Public Ride & Drive:  AltCar Expo provides an opportunity for the public to learn about and test drive vehicles from many different manufacturers in a non-dealer setting.

Vehicles on display are:

2015 Volkswagen e-Golf:  *Test Drive Opportunity* The 2015 Volkswagen e-Golf is VW’s first fully electric vehicle for the US market. Available during the fourth quarter of this year, the all-new e-Golf represents a broader strategy that will lead to the introduction of new and highly efficient drive systems, as part of Volkswagen’s holistic approach to sustainability called Think Blue®.

Note: The Volkswagen e-Golf will be available for test drive at AltCar before it will be in showrooms.

GenZe 2.0:  *Test Drive Opportunity* The GenZe two wheeled electric vehicle design was based on extensive research into the needs and attitudes of Millennial consumers who want an easy and affordable way to get around without the challenges associated with urban pollution, traffic congestion and parking, or the shortcomings of public transit.

Mercedes-Benz B Class Electric Drive: *Test Drive Opportunity* The B-Class Electric Drive is a new first among EVs, because it’s foremost a Mercedes-Benz. Engineered not just as an alternative to gasoline, it’s also a roomy, versatile alternative to EV compromises, letting you enjoy up to 85 miles of range in style and comfort.

AltCar Expo presents a Green Vehicle Trade Conference on Friday, September 19th.  Designed for government and green car trade professionals, the conference will feature three tracks each addressing relevant issues associated with the impact of an increase in public, government and private adoption of alternative fuel vehicles.  The AltCar Expo Conference Advisory Committee includes:  Katherine Vigneau, Professional Development Strategist, NAFA; Rick Sikes, Fleet Superintendent, City of Santa Monica & Richard Teebay, Office of Sustainability, Internal Services Department, County of Los Angeles, among others.

Although everyone is welcome to attend the exhibitor displays and Ride & Drive on either day, Friday programming is designed for elected officials, private and public fleet owners, municipalities and industry professionals and pre-registration is required.

Solar Santa Monica will host a Clean Energy Forum on Saturday, September 20th from 10:30am – 12:00pm of quick-fire presentations introducing solar and energy efficiency contractors, rebate programs, and financing options for home, businesses and multi-family housing buildings.
