Manuel Dejesus Segovia Gonzalez was struck around 8:10 p.m. by a vehicle traveling east on Terra Bella Street, just east of Cayuga Avenue (map), the Los Angeles Police Department’s Valley Traffic Division said in a news release.

Gonzalez was dragged 150 feet before the driver took off, police at the scene said. Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics transported the victim to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The vehicle was described as a dark-colored Cadillac SUV or truck, possibly burgundy or maroon, with tinted windows and front-end damage.

Police originally said Gonzalez was 42 years old. His age was later said to be 40.
