Woman in Critical Condition Following South L.A. Hit-and-Run; Driver Sought

Police were searching for a hit-and-run driver who critically injuring a woman as she crossed a street in South Los Angeles early Monday.

The woman was walking home from work around 12:45 a.m. when she was struck by a vehicle in the 11400 block of Menlo Avenue (map), which is west of the Imperial Highway, according to the Los Angeles Police Department and the California Highway Patrol.

She was rushed to a local hospital and last reported to be in critical condition.

The driver fled the scene.

Police described the vehicle they were looking for as dark in color, but had no further description available. They also had no description of the driver.

The roadway was temporarily closed while police investigated. It was reopened around 3:30 a.m., according to a KTLA photographer at the scene.

No further details were immediately released.
