Jennifer Nichols, 36, Alejandro Terrazas, 23, and a 15-year-old juvenile, who has not been publicly identified, were taken into custody Friday, the Gardena Police Department said in a news release. All three suspects are residents of Hawthorne.

Officers responded about 5:06 p.m. to a report of a kidnapping in the 13100 block of Daleside Avenue (map), the release said. The caller said a man had tried to kidnap the trio but was in their truck after "they were able to knock him out."

The officers contacted Nichols, Terrazas and the juvenile at the scene and identified them as the ones who had reported the alleged abduction attempt, authorities said. Police then found a 34-year-old man, unconscious and unresponsive, in a vehicle.

Los Angeles County Fire Department personnel were called to the scene, where the man died after several minutes of rescue efforts, officials said. He was later identified by the county coroner's office as Bradley Hayes, of Hesperia.

Detectives from the Police Department's Robbery/Homicide Detail are investigating the case.
