Authorities Monday were searching for a 27-year-old man who allegedly shot two people, one fatally, early Sunday morning at a birthday party in Palmdale.

Alejandro Rivera, a Palmdale resident, fled the scene in a silver or beige Honda and should be considered armed and dangerous, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said in a statement.

The incident occurred in the front yard of a home in the 1600 block of East Avenue Q-6 (map) about 12:20 a.m., when an argument preceded a physical altercation, the statement said.

Rivera then retrieved a firearm and shot Miguel Perez, 24, and a woman, according to the Sheriff’s Department.

Perez was pronounced dead at the scene. The woman was transported to a hospital and listed in stable condition.
