A man was shot in the arm, fires were set and bottles were thrown at police officers late Wednesday as revelers celebrated the San Francisco Giants winning the World Series, authorities said.

Shortly after the game a man was shot in the Mission District, at 21st and Valencia streets, said San Francisco police Officer Gordon Shyy. The bullet hit his arm and he sustained non-life threatening injuries.

The suspect was at-large and there was no description available.

Some people started bonfires with debris in the Mission District, Shyy said. Most of the flames were extinguished by firefighters and police officers.
