One person was hospitalized after a hit-and-run in the Vermont Square neighborhood of South L.A. Sunday night, officials said.

A white Nissan Maxima with multiple occupants struck the pedestrian around 8:10 p.m. near South Western Avenue and West 42nd Street (map), a Los Angeles Police Department official said.

One person was hospitalized, Los Angeles Fire Department spokeswoman Katherine Main confirmed.

The person’s condition was unknown.

The incident occurred after a string of fatal hit-and-runs in Orange County Halloween weekend. On Friday three 13-year-old girls in Santa Ana were fatally struck, and a father in Irvine died in a separate incident. All four were trick-or-treating. A mother of eight was also killed in Anaheim Saturday night.
