Dennis Guthaus, a resident of Riverside, had been reported missing Friday, police said in a news release. Officers responded and conducted a search with the assistance of police helicopters and rescue dogs.

Authorities had asked for the public's help in finding Guthaus, saying that he could become disoriented and confused.

He was last seen in the area of Van Buren Boulevard and Alta Cresta (map). About 3:35 Saturday, officers found his body in a dirt field near that intersection, the Riverside Police Department said.

The cause of death was not immediately known. Personnel from the county coroner's office responded to the scene and assumed the investigation.
