Earthquake With Preliminary Magnitude of 2.7 Strikes Near Oxnard

An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 2.7 struck Monday night near Leo Carrillo State Beach near the Los Angeles-Ventura county line.

The quake hit at 8:05 p.m. at a depth of 5.7 miles, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

It was centered about 12 miles south-southeast of Port Hueneme, 15 miles south southeast of Oxnard, 16 miles south of Camarillo and 16 miles west of Malibu, the USGS said.
