The Long Beach Police Department on Monday was investigating a vehicle crash and a shooting that left one person wounded, officials said.

Officers responded about 5 p.m. to a call of shots fired and a traffic collision in the 1900 block of Magnolia Avenue (map), said department spokeswoman Marlene Arrona.

Police arrived to find a stolen vehicle that had been abandoned after being involved in the crash, Arrona said. The officers found no shooting victim at the scene.

Witnesses told police that the occupants of the vehicle had fled on foot.

While the officers were collecting evidence at the scene, a person suffering from a gunshot wound walked into a local hospital, according to Arrona. The person’s injury did not appear to be life-threatening, the spokeswoman said.

No other information was immediately available.

An investigation is ongoing.
