A 19-year-old driver was taken into custody on suspicion of DUI early Thursday morning after a Westminster crash in which four people were ejected from the bed of a pickup truck, authorities said.

The incident occurred about 3:30 a.m. on Hoover Street between West Garden Grove Boulevard and Trask Avenue (map), said Sgt. Cord Vandergrift of the Westminster Police Department.

The driver lost control of the truck and it rolled onto its side, ejecting four passengers, Vandergrift said.

The people who were thrown from the vehicle suffered injuries described as moderate to severe, authorities said. All were transported to hospitals and were expected to survive.
