Officers were in pursuit of a white Mercedes on Thursday night after a Burbank police helicopter spotted the motorist driving recklessly and at a high rate of speed on the 134 Freeway.

A patrol car tried to pull the driver over around 8:30 p.m., but he sped off -- at times reaching speeds of 100 mph, according to Sgt. Claudio Losacco with the Burbank Police Department

The driver exited the freeway at Cahuenga Boulevard and began driving through Hollywood.

He stopped at one point and got out of the car, appearing to surrender, aerial video showed.

The man continued to drive around Hollywood before bailing from the car once again at Monroe Street near Normandie Avenue, video showed.

This time he was taken into custody without further incident.
