A Newport Beach man who was released on bail after being charged with murder in the death of his wife was being sought Wednesday after failing to appear for a scheduled court hearing.

Peter Gregory Chadwick, 50, was charged with one felony count of murder in connection with the death of Quee "Q.C." Chadwick in the couple's Newport Beach home in October 2012, according to a news release from the Orange County District Attorney's Office.

Chadwick was released from jail after posting $1 million bail on Dec. 21, 2012.

This was the first time in the two years since his release that Chadwick had missed a court date, according to Susan Kang Schroeder with the DA's Office.

"We're not sure where he is and he really should turn himself in," Schroeder said.

Chadwick was accused of murdering his wife during a dispute regarding a possible divorce and related financial issues and then disposing of her body in a trash dumpster in San Diego, according to the DA's Office.

Newport Beach police were initially called to the family's home after the couple failed to pick up their children from school, the release stated.

A search of their home revealed blood and signs of a struggle, prosecutors said.

Chadwick faced a maximum sentence of 25 years to life in state prison if convicted.

Anyone with information regarding his whereabouts was urged to contact Supervising District Attorney Investigator Anthony Sosnowski at 714-347-8492.
