Sheriff’s deputies in Palmdale were searching Friday for a 27-year-old man suspected of assaulting the mother of his child and then abducting their 3-month-old daughter.

Ellsworth Young was believed to be driving a Honda Element with Washington license plate AFD9769, according to Lt. Adam Ellison with Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Palmdale Station.

The attack occurred around 12 p.m. outside a check-cashing business in the 800 block of E. Palmdale Boulevard, Ellison said.

Young allegedly assaulted the woman in a car parking outside the business, according to a news release from the Sheriff’s Department.  When she managed to get away and ran inside the business, Young fled with the child, Ellison said.

Young and the woman were not married but they do share a child, Ellison said.

The woman told authorities that Young had a black semi-auto pistol, and repeatedly forced her to commit sex acts as recently as Thursday, the release stated.

Young fled north and was last reported in Bakersfield at 5:57 p.m., according to the release.

It was possible that he was headed to Washington State, Ellison said.

Young’s vehicle was described as a Blue 2004 Honda Element with a broken driver’s side tail light and damage to the driver’s door.
