The top dating apps compared! What we like and what we don’t.

Online dating apps are a popular way to look for love, but how do you choose where to post your profile? There are dozens of dating  apps to choose from and each one works in a slightly different way.

We compared some of the top choices to see what’s good and what’s bad about them.

Good - Easy to use, quick, simple, doesn’t take much time to set up, FaceBook integration.

Bad - A ton of spam, fake profiles, once you swipe they’re gone.

Good - Mostly free, good questions to match you up with other people like ‘do you drink or do you do drugs’, or what is your religion. Communicating is free but you can pay for extras to see if they read your message and have your profile boosted which means more people will see you. It will also tell you when the others were last online so you know if they are active.

Bad - Seems to be spotty. Sometimes you’ll receive a message, but it won’t show up in the app or online even though you got an email notification. Same goes for read messages. It may say that a user did or did not read a message at a specific time and that time-stamp may be way off.

Good - Been around for a while. Offers free messaging to other users. Can do a generic location spot off of your phone GPS to show you other mobile users in the area. The app will also show if they are online. Matches change up somewhat often, so you have new profiles to look at.

Bad: You can’t see if they read your message unless you subscribe. You can only see generic information on a profile unless you subscribe, but there is enough information there to be able to determine if you would like to message them or not.

Good - Probably the most popular next to eHarmony. You’ve seen a bunch of commercials, so you know that it’s most likely credible. You have the option to view a lot of profiles, create a profile and appear in search results all for free. Search for matches, post photos, and sending winks are free as well.

Bad: Nothing on here comes free other than the basics. You need to have a paid account in order to contact other singles, send & receive email messages, respond to email messages, see who has viewed you, or really anything. Without paying for a plan, it’s just a basic ‘look and see’ what’s out there. There are a lot of abandoned profilers out there that haven’t been logged into for a long time.

*BONUS* They do have a 6-month guarantee if you follow the prerequisites. You’ll get 6 months free if you haven’t found a match.

Good: There really isn’t anything that stands out with this app. They do give you a lot of matches to go through so you have a lot of options, but they can be way off. In order to email another user you need to subscribe to a plan. Again, well known for TV ads, but not very useful.

Bad: Probably the worst one of all. There are a lot of steps to create a profile. The matching is very off from what you say you’re looking for. Sometimes they throw curve balls at you and match you up with a complete opposite. There seems to be a lot of profiles without pictures and a lot of incomplete profiles as well.
