Airport police and the FBI were investigating an alleged confrontation between a female passenger and others on board a Delta Airlines flight from Atlanta to LAX on Wednesday night.

A female passenger on flight 17 allegedly assaulted members of the flight crew and passengers while the plane was in the air, according to Laura Eimiller with the FBI.

The woman was detained after the plane landed at LAX and was being treated at a local hospital, Eimiller said.

A statement from police officials at LAX described the passenger as "belligerent" and indicated that she may have been intoxicated.

No federal charges had been filed yet.
