A driver was killed after crashing into the side of a restaurant in the City of Industry, causing a gas leak Sunday, officials said.

A dark-colored car struck the side of a restaurant in the 15000 block of Valley Boulevard (map) around 1:45 a.m. Sunday, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Sgt. Stonich said. The restaurant was believed to be closed at the time of the crash.

The driver became trapped and died at the scene, Sgt. Taylor said.

The car struck a gas line, causing a leak, Stonich said.

The gas company was en route to the area, which people were advised to avoid.
