A Cincinnati, Ohio, mother has been charged with aggravated murder after she allegedly decapitated her own 3-month-old daughter, according to a report.

Deasia Watkins, 20, was taken into custody after Cincinnati officers found the body of Janiyah Watkins inside a home Monday around 6 a.m., police told television station WCPO.

The baby had been beheaded, according to Hamilton County Coroner Dr. Lakshmi Sammarco

“There were multiple stab wounds to the right side of the (baby’s) face and head,” Sammarco told the station. “(The baby had) a fractured right arm … and the head was severed from the body.”

Sammarco described it as a “pretty horrific sight.”

Just 10 days before her death, baby Janiyah had been taken from her mother and placed in the custody of Job and Family Services, according to the station.

The decision to remove the infant from her mother’s care came after Hamilton County prosecutors filed a complaint a week earlier stating that Janiyah was being neglected.

Police had initially gone to Watkins’ apartment on Jan. 25 after reports of screaming and allegedly found the mother high on marijuana and “speaking in tongues,” WCPO reported.

The baby was in her arms at the time, and police had to forcefully remove Janiyah. After the infant was taken away from her, Watkins started “speaking with demons,” according to the complaint.

It was not immediately known how the baby ended up back with Watkins before her death.

Watkins has been hospitalized, the station reported.
