Chris Hoke is a prison chaplain and pastor to Mexican gangs in Washington’s Skagit Valley, and through his work with the organization Tierra Nueva—a Christian ministry catering to immigrants, inmates, ex-offenders, and the homeless—he co-founded a coffee roasting business, The Underground Coffee Project, which employs men coming out of prison and addiction while connecting them to agricultural partners in Honduras. Homeboy first inspired Tierra Nueva’s Underground Coffee roasting business. Chris will be travelling with ex-gang member Neaners, a major character in his book and now a collaborator in gang outreach. They contribute to the Homeboy’s Technical Assistance Program, diving deep into Homeboy’s therapeutic community, familial environment, and general philosophies.
