Transient Suspected in Laundry Room Sex Assault of Woman in Van Nuys Taken Into Custody

A man suspected of sexually assaulting a woman in the laundry room of her Van Nuys apartment complex in March has been taken into custody, police said Monday.

David Ivan Campos, 22, was arrested Thursday in connection with the March 17 assault that was reported in the 6000 block of Haskell Avenue (map), according to a Los Angeles Police Department news release.

Campos allegedly prevented the victim from leaving the laundry room then sexually assaulted her, the Police Department stated.

Campos, a transient known to frequent the area of Haskell Avenue and Vanowen Avenue, was taken into custody by the Mission Division’s Gang Enforcement Detail on Thursday, according to the news release.
