Man Armed With Machete Breaks into Woman’s Boyle Heights Home, Sexually Assaults Her

Police were asking for the public help in locating a man armed with a machete who broke into a woman's home in Boyle Heights and sexually assaulted her early Friday morning.

The attacked occurred around 12:30 a.m. at a home in the 1800 block of Pennsylvania Avenue, according to a news release from the Los Angeles Police Department.

The victim was in bed asleep when an unknown male Hispanic forced open the living room window and climbed into the home, the release stated.

Once inside the home, the man removed everything, but his underwear before entering the victim’s bedroom, according to LAPD Detective Kevin Gonzales.

The woman woke up when she heard a noise, and saw the suspect standing at the foot of her bed, Gonzales said.

He sexually assaulted her and then got dressed and left the residence, the victim told police.

The suspect was described as being around 35 years old, 5 foot 4 inches tall, approximately 150 pounds with brown wavy hair, and brown or hazel eyes.

The victim said the man also had a noticeable scar on his upper lip.

He was wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt with blue side panels, blue jeans, black tennis shoes, and a brown baseball cap.
