Michael Lux, 64, approached the girl on the Seal Beach Pier on May 24 and offered to giver her a ride in his convertible, witnesses told Seal Beach police.

“The girl accompanied Lux to his car, where he offered her alcohol, displayed a large amount of cash and asked her to join him at his condominium,” the Seal Beach Police Department stated in a news release.

Two people who had been watching Lux and the girl told her to get out of the car and Lux became verbally confrontational, according to the Police Department.

“The folks who intervened in this incident acted heroically.  They did the right thing by calling the Police when they saw something suspicious,” Chief of Police Joe Stilinovich stated in the news release.

Lux, who was on probation for robbery and is alleged to be a sexual predator because of past sexual assaults and rape,  fled the scene before officers arrived but was positively identified.

Lux was taken into custody on May 28 after a warrant was issued for his arrest, according to the news release.

The Orange County District Attorney’s Office has filed charges against Lux, the news release stated.
