6-Year-Old Skateboarder Dies After Being Struck by Car in Santa Ana Apartment Complex

A 6-year-old skateboarder was rushed to the hospital in critical condition Wednesday evening after being struck by a car in the parking lot of an apartment complex in Santa Ana.

The boy, initially identified by police as being 8, was pronounced dead at the hospital.

It happened around 4:45 p.m. at a complex in the 800 block of south Fairview Street, according to Anthony Bertagna with Santa Ana Police Department.

The driver, who lived in the complex, stayed at the scene, Bertagna said.

The child was not identified.
