A female Uber driver was robbed at gunpoint while waiting for her customers outside a restaurant in Fontana, police said Monday.

The robbery occurred about 3:20 a.m. Saturday in front of a restaurant in the 9800 block of Sierra Avenue.

The driver for the ride-sharing service was parked and waiting when an older-model, dark sedan with tinted windows pulled up alongside her. A passenger got out, walked up to the Uber driver and pointed a handgun at her, demanding money, the Fontana Police Department said in a news release.

The driver, a 37-year-old Ontario woman, handed over an unknown amount of cash, and the sedan fled.

She described the man who held her up as Hispanic and in his 20s, with a sunken face, police said. He wore a blue, hooded sweatshirt with a large “F” on it.

The victim could not describe the driver of the robber’s vehicle, and no surveillance video was available Monday.
