Aaron Carter, a vagrant, was booked into the Ventura County Jail and was being held on $10,000 bail, according to the sheriff’s website.

Officers responded about 9:30 a.m. to a call regarding a sexual battery at the store, at 4200 East Main Street, the Ventura Police Department said in a statement.

“The suspect reportedly made sexual comments and gestures to several female patrons inside the store,” the statement said. “He then approached a female employee and grabbed her buttocks.”

After being confronted by a male patron, Carter left the store and walked away from the area, according to police.

The suspect, who matched the description given by witnesses, was found by officers a few blocks from the scene. He was taken into custody without incident, the news release said.

Carter was scheduled to appear in Superior Court on Tuesday, according to the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department.
