Pedestrian Fatally Struck by Hit-and-Run Driver on Studio City-Area Freeway

An 18-year-old pedestrian was fatally struck by a hit-and-run driver on a Studio City-area freeway on Saturday, according to California Highway Patrol officials.

Officers responded to reports that a pedestrian had been hit near the 101 and 170 Freeway interchange, according to CHP logs around 12:20 a.m.

Officials did not immediately confirm which freeway the incident occurred, but the Los Angeles Times reported it was the 170.

Four vehicles stopped to help the teen, who had been found lying in the middle of lanes, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

None of the vehicles were believed to have struck the man, and the driver was suspected of fleeing the scene.

A description of the hit-and-run driver and vehicle were not known, and officials were investigating why the man was on the roadway.
