Police received a call about 1:10 p.m. reporting an argument between two people at the store that continued to escalate, Lt. Hughes of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said.

The incident took place at the store at 40130 10th Street West, according to a deputy with the Sheriff’s Department’s Palmdale Station.

At one point during the argument a man pulled up his shirt to show a gun in his waistband and threatened to shoot the other person, according to Hughes.

Authorities evacuated the Wal-Mart and searched for the armed man, but were unable to find him, Hughes said.

The Wal-Mart has since reopened for business.
