A man and woman, both in their 70s, were hospitalized early Wednesday evening after being struck by a car at an intersection in Rosemead, a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department spokesman said.
Both victims were transported to Los Angeles County-USC Medical Center, where the woman was in critical condition and the man was in stable condition, said LASD Lt. Ernest Bille.
The unidentified pedestrians were crossing the street at Walnut Grove and Garvey avenues when they were hit by the vehicle, according to Bille. It was unclear if they were in a crosswalk at the time.
The driver remained at the scene after the collision, according to the Sheriff’s Department, and was not expected to face arrest in connection with the incident.
