A 23-year-old woman who was found dead in a Newport Beach office building was identified Wednesday, and the Newport Beach Police Department confirmed a man had been arrested in connection with her death.
Sarai Alcaraz of Long Beach was the person whose body was found in an office building in the 5000 block of Campus Drive early Tuesday, according to a brief Orange County coroner's release.
She was working as an escort at the time she was killed, police told KTLA. The victim had been at the building to meet a client, according to police.
Isaac Nieto Hernandez, 29, was arrested about 11:30 a.m. Wednesday during a traffic stop, and there were no other suspects outstanding, police spokeswoman Jennifer Manzella told KTLA.
He was expected to be booked on suspicion of first-degree murder.
Alcaraz's body had no obvious signs of trauma, and the manner and cause of death had yet to be determined.
A homicide investigation into her death underway, a department news release stated.
Associates of the woman called police around 12:10 a.m. Tuesday, saying they were concerned for the victim's welfare. Police initially called the two callers friends.
The callers had last seen Alcaraz at an office building an hour or two prior, and attempted to search for her after she stopped responding to their text messages and phone calls.
After the associates called police, investigators found her body.
Though the coroner's report indicates Alcaraz's body was found inside a specific business, police said the victim was located inside the building but not on a business' property.
