There is no evidence of methane gas accumulating in Porter Ranch, the Southern California Gas Company stated Wednesday in response to residents’ fears about a possible build up that could cause a future explosion. Lynette Romero reports from Porter Ranch for the KTLA 5 Morning News on Feb. 10, 2016.

SoCalGas released the following statement to KTLA:

"The letter sent by this plaintiffs' attorney shows a misunderstanding of subsurface geology, natural gas storage and the events surrounding an unrelated incident that occurred more than 30 years ago. Regulatory, health and safety experts report the natural gas leak in Porter Ranch poses neither immediate danger, nor risk of long-term health effects for residents.  Our focus remains on stopping this leak as quickly and safely as possible."
