The Pan African Film Festival is showcasing more than one hundred NEW films.
From “1440 And Counting” starring Loretta Devine. This about an urban school teacher who thinks she is about retire and move from the school district. To “#Bars4Justice” starring Social activist and author Dr. Cornel West and Hip Hop artist Common. This about the tension in Ferguson, Missouri following the shooting of Mike Brown.

Newport Harbor Orchid Society hosts its’ 14th Annual Orchid Expo and Sale at the Westminster Mall.
Event organizers report 17-vendors will sell thousands of varieties of orchids, ranging from relatively inexpensive varieties starting at $10.00 to rare, expensive varieties costing up to $5,000.

The 56th Annual Circle K NHRA Winternationals in at the Auto Club Raceway in Pomona celebrates the 50th anniversary of the Funny Car class.
In addition to track competition, a wide variety of classic nostalgia Funny Cars are on display in the Hot Rod Junction. Others will perform burnout demonstrations and make exhibition runs on the legendary dragstrip at the season-opening event in the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series.

A wonderland of rare and beautiful books are available at the California Antiquarian Book Fair at the Pasadena Convention Center. Participants describe this as one of the world’s largest and most prestigious exhibitions of rare and valuable books.
Also, the book fair celebrates the 150th anniversary of the publication ALICE IN WONDERLAND, considered the most influential children’s book and an iconic work that has inspired generations of diverse writers, graphic artist moviemakers and other creative voices.
L.A. Public Library Overdue Book & Unpaid Fines Amnesty Program
This is THE LAST WEEKEND the Los Angeles Public Library will allow us to return overdue books, DVDs, tapes and other library items without having to pay the fines!
All fines are forgiven and patrons will again be allowed to use their library cards once we return the overdue items to the Central Library or 72 branch libraries.
The ORIGINAL Harlem Globetrotters 90th Anniversary World Tour
The ORIGINAL Harlem Globetrotters are in town, part of their 90th Anniversary World Tour. The exhibition basketball team combines athleticism, theater, and comedy at the Honda Center in Anaheim.

The Sinatra exhibit traces 100 years of Sinatra legacy, from Hoboken, N.J., to superstardom, chronicling the meteoric rise of his music career, his Hollywood successes, personal challenges, and his humanitarian work.
Petersen Automotive Museum

While we’re on the subject of museums, visitors are now invited to tour the VAULT at the PETERSEN AUTOMOTIVE MUSEUM; it’s a “behind the scenes” look at some of the most unique cars in the Petersen collection not on display in the museum galleries. The VAULT is home to cars representing more than 100 years of automotive history, some of which have rarely been seen by the public.
A docent will guide you through the VAULT while sharing stories about a selection of the cars in the museum’s diverse collection. Tours last more than an hour. Temperatures in the VAULT can be low, so warmer layers are recommended.
