76-Year-Old Woman in Wheelchair Fights Off Would-Be Robber in Pasadena: Police

Police were searching for a young man who tried to rob a 76-year-old woman as she sat in her wheelchair in a residential area of Pasadena on Thursday.

The man forcibly tried to to steal the woman’s purse and a gold necklace around noon in the area of Villa Street and Maple Way, according to Pasadena Police Department Lt. Vasken Gorbikin.

She was able to fight him off, and the failed robber subsequently fled the scene. It was unknown whether he got away on foot or in a vehicle.

The man, described by Gorbikin only as a black male between the ages of 17 and 20, remained at-large.

The woman was not injured.

No additional information has been released by police.
