Motorcycle Pursuit Ends in Fatal Crash in Leimert Park

A motorcyclist being pursued by police died after crashing into an SUV in Leimert Park Thursday evening, authorities said.

The pursuit began about 10:45 p.m. when officers noticed the motorcyclist driving recklessly, a dispatch officer with the Los Angeles Police Department confirmed.

The motorcyclist initially evaded officers but eventually crashed into a black SUV at the intersection of Leimert Boulevard and West Martin Luther King Boulevard, the officer said.

Video from the scene showed the badly damaged red motorcycle on the ground next to the SUV.

The motorcyclist, who was not identified, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the SUV was not injured, according to the officer.
