The discovery was made just before noon in the 8700 block of Beverly Boulevard, near Cedars Sinai Medical Center, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department news release.

The site, where a longtime Jerry’s Famous Deli location closed in 2013, is vacant and under construction.

Someone walked into the West Hollywood sheriff's station to report a dead person in the area, according to sheriff's homicide Sgt. Marcelo Quintero. Investigators found a white female dead in the trash bin, Quintero said.

It's not clear how the woman died, he said.

Detectives believe the woman lived in the area and frequented the parking lot where her body was found, Quintero said.

Local residents said transients are often seen in the parking lot.

Investigators were trying to determine whether it was a homicide or suicide, Deputy Ryan Rouzan said.

The case was being called a “suspicious death,” Rouzan said.
