A 28-year-old man who lost both of his legs after crashing a stolen LAPD vehicle in 2012 has been charged with killing his boyfriend in Echo Park, the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office announced Tuesday.

Nicholas James Bowling was charged on suspicion with murder for allegedly strangling his boyfriend, Frank Rogers, 48, on July 8. The killing apparently happened after the two men had gotten into a domestic dispute.

Bowling is scheduled to be arraigned on Tuesday and prosecutors will ask that his bail be set at $2 million, according to the DA’s office.

If convicted he faces a sentence of up to life in prison, officials said.
