Police were called to the store located near the intersection of North Serrano Avenue and Sunset Boulevard at about 12:50 a.m. after what was described as a “business dispute,” said Sgt. Robert Casimiro with the Los Angeles Police Department.

As police were attempting to take a man into custody, he turned and tried to fight with one of the officers, said LAPD Sgt. Frank Preciado.

"An officer-involved shooting occurred. The suspect was hit with a non-life threatening injury," Preciado said.

The suspect, described as a black man in his 30s, was taken to a local hospital, Casimiro said.

Surveillance video from the store was being used in the investigation into the shooting, Preciado said.

Sunset Boulevard was closed between North Serrano Avenue and North Western Avenue following the incident.
