A 23-year-old man was arrested in connection with a jewelry store robbery and shooting that occurred in Thousand Oaks in April, according to the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office.

The robbery was reported about 1:15 p.m. April 12 at Albert’s Jewelry Store, 2024 E. Avenida De Los Arboles.

An initial investigation revealed that at least two people entered the store and one exchanged gunfire with a store employee.

One of the suspects was injured in the shooting before getting away, officials said. No one else was injured during the incident.

Maurice Haley, of Los Angeles, was later identified as a suspect based on DNA evidence collected at the scene.

Haley was found hiding in an apartment in northern Las Vegas, officials said, and he was taken into custody on July 14.

Haley appeared in Ventura County Superior Court on Tuesday and pleaded not guilty to second-degree robbery and two counts of assault with a firearm, the Ventura County Star reported.

He remains in custody on $75,000 bail.

Haley is scheduled to appear in court on Aug. 8, the newspaper reported.

No further information was released about additional suspects in the robbery.
