A 5-year-old boy died on Sunday after accidentally falling into a lake and being struck by a boat, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.

Arrowhead Lake Association patrolmen responded to a boating accident on Lake Arrowhead around 4:20 p.m.

The child was riding in the bow section of a boat pulling a water skier, when the skier fell. The boat operator turned the vessel around to pick up the skier and the boy fell off the boat during the turn.

He was then hit by the boat and suffered traumatic injuries. The child was pronounced dead at the scene.
