Pedestrian, 74, Critically Injured, Dog Dead Following Motorcycle Crash; Driver Arrested for Alleged DUI

A pedestrian was critically injured, and her dog was killed, when a motorcyclist who was allegedly driving under the influence lost control and crashed into them, the Thousand Oaks Police Department reported.

The crash happened about 7 p.m. Monday at the intersection of Lynn Road and Boxthorn Avenue when the motorcyclist lost control of his motorcycle and fell off his bike, which continued to travel and hit the woman who was walking her dog, police said.

The victim, Ellen Tyree, 74, was taken to Los Robles Hospital where she was listed in critical condition.

Her dog died at the scene of the crash.

Motorcyclist Jonathan Deinhard, 21 , was treated for minor injuries and arrested for felony DUI with injuries, police reported. He was booked at the Ventura County Main Jail.

Police said speed and alcohol were contributing factors in the crash.
