Los Angeles County sheriff’s detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a woman found in a West Covina apartment, officials said Monday.
The woman in her 20s was found unconscious in an apartment in the 3400 block of Sentous Avenue about 2:30 a.m. and was eventually pronounced dead at the scene.
“Due to her young age, we’re here just to investigate to make sure that we preserve any evidence in case, later on, it is determined by the coroner that a crime occurred,” said sheriff's homicide Lt. Joe Mendoza.
He added that authorities are speaking to a possible witness, but did not release any other information about the case.
Mendoza told the San Gabriel Valley Tribune that the woman did not have any trauma or gunshot wound on her body.
Sheriff’s officials are assisting the West Covina Police Department.
